What? You thought we were done with J Lo coverage for the day? In the words of the Lesser Cher, “As if!” Jennifer Lopez rode a fake subway in $20,000 worth of Balmain, but that was only the preamble to the full fashion show to come. We opted to break it up into two posts because a beauty ad is pretty far apart in tone from a bunch of stagewear looks. Also, because when J Lo gives you a bounty of fashion to discuss, you milk that shit. Hey, transparency in blogging over here.
Here is J Lo trying to get a little Gaga in her style. Once again, a pop star is making excellent use of those massive Valentino pieces from the fall couture collection. The face thing is pretty dumb and feels totally off-brand for her. You don’t need it, girl. What you did need was a better platform setup because we think this ridiculously huge coat only works if you hide the infrastructure holding it up. Otherwise, you’re just a girl on a pedestal in a bigass coat.
After she ditched the Coat of Many Pounds, we got treated to this rather fetching disco suit:
No complaints here – although we will point out how hilarious it is that the microphone stand coordinates with her outfit.
But wait! This diva has one more change-up for you! Because no diva spends New Year’s Eve in just one, two or three distinct looks. A true diva can serve up four without breaking a sweat.
Basically, the whole performance came with a slow striptease down to this fairly basic (for J Lo) jumpsuit. It’s fine, but the illusion netting looks pretty awful up close. Maybe Times Square on New Year’s Eve isn’t the best time and place for a low-cut, sleeveless garment? We’re just saying, girl. You made more sense when you were all bundled up.
