Diva never stops diva-ing:
Not exactly a newsflash, but we don’t care. We’ll always love her Crawford-like obsession with constant, showboating perfection in the public eye.
Not that we think this is any great shakes from a style perspective. She’s doing that thing where she matches everything; a tendency of hers that tends to rear its head with renewed strength whenever she’s wearing primarily beige or white. It’s kind of her thing, but we’d never call it a stylish thing. It’s more like Queen Elizabeth or Hillary Clinton, in the way she provides a totally color-coordinated look in order to become more figurehead than person in front of cameras. She’s all image in situations like this, and for whatever reasons, she likes to render that image in Barbie-like matchiness from time to time.
Can we just note here that we’ve referenced Joan Crawford, Queen Elizabeth, Hillary Clinton and Barbie – all in the same post? We will take our bows here in order to save time. But really, it’s her. J Lo dresses in a way that inspires such comparisons, which is why she’s such a red carpet favorite.
Still, let’s be blunt here. The shoes are awful and the bag’s not much better. The dress looks really interesting from the back but overdone in the bodice from the front. And the color is a pinkish beige that tends to photograph well on almost no one.
And yet she’s serving it all on a silver platter, like she always does. Ever diva-ing, never stopping. It’s at times exhausting and at other times a little inspirational. An outfit like this isn’t about style necessarily. It’s about old school showmanship.
